Experience you can count on…..

For nearly eight decades, the DeMeo firm has held a prominent position in the Northern California legal community.  J.N. “Nick” DeMeo and brother Charles DeMeo founded the firm in 1934.

Nick DeMeo was a pioneering attorney in the field of law practice management and authored a number of articles, papers and books which helped provide the basic template for the Continuing Education of the Bar practice guides.

Charles DeMeo was a well-known community benefactor who left the Sonoma Community Foundation and other charities a sizeable charitable endowment upon his passing in 1995.

John F. “Jack” DeMeo is one of the most respected trial attorneys in Sonoma County and is well respected by his legal peers throughout the State and Nationally.  Practicing with Joshua West and Carmen Sinigiani, the firm enjoys a strong presence in the Sonoma County legal community and is well known for its results in personal injury/wrongful death and medical malpractice cases, as well as estate and trust administration, estate planning and estate litigation.

DeMeo DeMeo & West is a full service firm.  However, if your matter is something our firm does not handle, we will try to assist you in finding competent legal counsel.

Helpful Tips When Hiring an Attorney

  • Reputation & Personal References: Call your friends, associates, financial advisors, accountants, and other trusted individuals and ask them who they might recommend.  Ask them if they know the reputation of the attorney you are considering for professionalism, integrity and results. Your attorney should have a good reputation in our legal community.
  • Financial Stability: Is the firm able to finance your case?
  • Fair and reasonable attorneys fees: When choosing a personal injury attorney, the contingent fee should be calculated after the costs advanced are deducted from the recovery- not before! Is the hourly rate competitive? Are there “hidden charges” such as charges for overhead, secretarial services, paralegal services, word processing, etc., which are not part of the attorney’s hourly rate?
  • Experience with similar cases, if any.  What is the attorney’s background and familiarity with the type of case being taken on?
  • Rating by peer review groups such as Martindale Hubbell.
  • Membership in professional groups.
  • Search for disciplinary actions to ensure the attorney is in good standing.
